संपूर्ण संसार देवताओं के अधीन माना गया है देवता सदैव मंत्रों के अधीन रहते हैं अर्थात मंत्रों से उनकी पूजा आराधना की जाती है तभी वे प्रसन्न होते हैं

मंत्रों का ज्ञान मंत्रों का प्रयोग तथा उनके रहस्य का ज्ञान ब्राह्मण ही भली भांति जानते हैं। इस तरह ब्राह्मण का स्थान समाज में देवताओं के समतुल्य है। इसी कारण ब्राह्मण को देवता कहा गया है।

ब्राह्मण प्राचीन काल से ही जप तप पूजा पाठ आराधना मैं संलग्न है ‌ धर्म शास्त्र कर्मकांड आदि के ज्ञान के साथ-साथ उनमें उदारता सात्विकता तथा त्याग की भावना रहती है इस कारण वे ईश्वर तत्व के सर्वाधिक निकट रहते हैं इसके साथ साथ परंपरागत पूजा पाठ करने की मान्यता भी इन्हें प्राप्त है।
